RICH IN LIFE-CHANGING BOOKS

[6 All-Time Favorites]

Welcome to The Quiet Rich, the #1 newsletter for a quiet mind and a rich life. Today, I’m giving you the 6 timeless books that I recommend to everyone.

Side note— want to finish more books in less time?

On average, people read 6 books a year. So it might feel like you’ll read an endless number of books in the future. But you'll actually get about 300. That’s it. Of the 129+ million books that have ever been written. 👀

Or you can get thousands of non-fiction summaries on Shortform (today’s sponsor). I like to use it as a “refresher” for the books I’ve already bought and read. Their chapter-by-chapter guides give you the best takeaways in 5 mins, plus exercises to apply the best parts of the book to your life.

CONTEXT

There are certain books that just stick with you. You know the ones…

  • They stole your attention the first time you read them.

  • You found yourself telling everyone about that one chapter.

  • They changed your perspective in a lasting way, and you would happily read them again in the future.

  • And whenever you meet someone who also read the same books? You immediately feel close to them. 🔥

Here are those 6 books for me.

I hope you enjoy one or two of them before New Year’s Eve— to ready your mind for what awaits you in 2025.

THE BOOKS

1. Essentialism by Greg McKeown

My Lessons:

  • Do fewer things, but better. Stack small wins in essential areas.

  • The pressure to “do more” is often self-inflicted. (So it’s all about managing your inner critic.)

  • “Priority” means 1 thing. Just 1.

Favorite quote: “Give yourself permission to stop trying to do it all, to stop saying yes to everyone.”

2. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgenson

My Lessons:

  • Earn with your mind, not your time. The best assets earn while you sleep.

  • Achieve mastery in 1-2 obsessions. No one can beat you at being you.

  • Step off the hedonic treadmill. (You’ll go a lot farther on the ground.)

Favorite quote: “A fit body, a calm mind, a house full of love. These things cannot be bought — they must be earned.”

(Btw— you can download the entire book for free at this site. I kinda can’t believe they’re giving this one away at no cost.)

3. I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi

My Lessons:

  • Spend extravagantly on things you love. Cut costs mercilessly on things you don't.

  • Just get started. (Don’t spend an exhaustive amount of time thinking about what you should invest in.)

  • Automate your savings + investing so it’s effortless.

Favorite quote: Why do you want to be rich? What does being rich mean to you?”

Btw— this one might sound familiar because it turned into a Netflix series in April this year.

4. Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman

My Lessons:

  • 4k weeks (80 years) is a human lifespan (if you’re lucky)— and it’s actually a very short amount of time. Don’t “live for the future.” Enjoy now.

  • The point of a vacation is not to be more productive later. It’s to enjoy a vacation.

  • Don’t let “perfect” be the enemy of done.

Favorite quote: “One can waste years postponing precisely the things one cares about the most.”

5. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza

My Lessons:

  • If you want a new outcome, you have to become a new self.

  • Meditation is how you access your subconscious mind (and unwanted habits).

  • A memory without emotion = wisdom.

Favorite quote: “Your thoughts have consequences so great that they create your reality.”

Btw— if you’re not ready for the full book yet, here’s an 11-min YouTube video of Joe introducing this idea in a lecture. It’s so good.

6. Atomic Habits by James Clear

My Lessons:

  • Success is the product of daily habits, not once-in-a-lifetime transformations.

  • Make those habits part of your identity. Every little action you take is a vote for the kind of person you want to become.

  • Getting 1% better every day actually counts for a lot in the long run.

Favorite quote: “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”
